The intriguing mystery surrounding Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server is currently the Number 1 story re: the upcoming presidential race.
To solve such a mystery, or to connect the dots, it’s necessary for us to channel our inner Sherlock. The famed fictional criminologist, who had to deduce elements that were seemingly unrelated to arrive at his conclusions, did not have the tools that are available to us. Those tools include live interviews, still photos and riveting television clips. Using those, let’s start at the current status of the Hillary investigation and work our way back to what brought us to this point.
The latest incident was FBI Director James Comey’s appearance before a House investigating committee. During that time he was asked riveting questions about Hillary Clinton’s veracity. In one exchange, Congressman Trey Gowdy cited previous and innumerable statements of fact by Hillary and asked Comey if they were indeed true. In every case, Comey flatly stated that they were untrue. This was the same theme of Comey’s rather ambivalent Press conference when he stated that no criminal charges would be forthcoming against Hillary. In that same Press conference, Comey spent the major part of his time in excoriating Hillary’s competence and sophistication when it comes to the use of a private server.
The upshot of Comey’s appearance before the committee was that he was to receive a request from Congress to check on possible perjury charges against Mrs. Clinton for her appearance under oath when she lied to Congress.
Still going backward; Hillary hops aboard Air Force 1 for a campaign appearance with President Obama. At that event, Obama states firmly, “Hillary is the most qualified person, man or woman that has ever run for the presidency.” Maybe he should have added that she is also the most qualified liar that has ever run for President.
Prior to the plane trip, AG Loretta Lynch closed the investigation into Clinton’s email. This is the same person who the week previously, had a closed-door private meeting with Hillary’s husband, Bill. It occurred on the tarmac at an airport, “just by coincidence”. It is my understanding from talking to a number of private pilots that once a plane lands it is under the control of the airport tower. Since Clinton’s plane had been parked first, apparently Lynch’s plane was guided to a spot beside his through pre-arrangement. According to Lynch, their private conversation was about grandkids and golf. I know that Bill is a sometimes golfer and I doubt that Lynch has ever swung a club.
Following the firestorm of criticism that broke out about that meeting, Lynch said that she would abide by whatever decision Comey rendered.
Sandwiched in between the Lynch/Clinton meeting and the Comey presser was a Saturday meeting between Hillary and the FBI. Subject of that meeting was the conclusion of Comey’s investigation.
The above startling combination of events has caused some conspiracy theorists to allege “cover up”. Sherlocking further back in time, it may be wise to examine other famous Clinton prevarications. It has often been stated that she is a compulsive, congenital or pathological liar, perhaps a combination of all three. Her most famous statement early on was that she had been named after mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary, when is fact she was born before the mountain climber. Another whopper was her statement that she had dodged “sniper fire”. Films of that incident showed that the bullets she had evaded were actually flowers presented to her by young children.
So far, we have connected a good number of dots but more are expected when Loretta Lynch appears before Congress this week.
So light up your Meerschaum pipe as you eagerly await the next chapter.
