Mayor and Council Board & Commission Appointments
Every two years following a general election,the Sparks City Council reviews and approves several appointments for the Mayor and Council Members. Highlights for each include:
Mayor Geno Martini: Regional Planning Governing Board, Truckee Meadows Water Authority, Nevada League of Cities, Board of Directors (President)
Councilman Donald Abbott, Ward 1: Parks & Recreation Commission, Washoe County Senior Services Board of Trustees, Regional Planning Governing Board (alternate)
Councilman Ed Lawson, Ward 2: Regional Planning Governing Board, Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority, Sparks Tourism & Marketing Committee
Councilman Ron Smith, Ward 3: Mayor Pro Tempore, Regional Transportation Commission, Truckee Meadows Water Authority, Truckee River Flood Management Board of Directors
Councilwoman Charlene Bybee, Ward 4: Regional Planning Governing Board (Chair), Sparks Redevelopment Agency (Chair), Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) Board of Directors

Traffic Signal Timing Project Agreement
Council approved an interlocal agreement with the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC) for a signal timing project. The City will provide staff to assist the RTC in implementing new signal timing into the City of Sparks central traffic system. The agreement allows the RTC to reimburse the City of Sparks up to $30,000 of the City’s staff time.
Economic Development Update
Grifols Biomat USA located at 662 East Prater Way presented a business update to the Mayor and Council. Grifols is a leader in plasma collection with more than 160 plasma donors centers across the U.S.
