The current firestorm in Washington over the purported link between Russia and the Trump presidential campaign was one of the chief topics at a recent kaffeeklatsch. One political buff suggested that rather than the Russians helping Trump’s campaign at the expense of Hillary’s, it might be wise to consider that if Russia were to favor a single candidate, it would most likely be Bernie Sanders. His rationale stems from the fact that the septuagenarian socialist Sanders’ policies more closely resemble those of Vladimir Putin’s than either Hillary’s or Trump’s.
If the Russians were truly involved in the hacking of Democrats, it would seem that they were getting even with Hillary’s camp, which had rigged the nomination against Sanders. In disclosing the many instances where the DNC and Podesta had demeaned, dismissed and even uttered racial slurs against Sanders, the Wikileaks revelations proved conclusively that Hillary was a favored candidate.
On the surface, it seems absurd that Putin would want to see a right-wing Conservative as President instead of the left-leaning Democrat that would double down on Obama’s Social engineering.
One of the favorite tag lines re: Sanders during the campaign was, “He went to Russia for his honeymoon and never returned.”
Years ago, the late David Farside, a political junkie, gave what was possibly the most cogent explanation of why Trump would probably win. He said, “Politics is like a giant pendulum. When it swings too far to the left, it will eventually swing equally far to the right.” To prove his point, he used a Biblical metaphor that went something like this: Roosevelt-Truman begat Eisenhower-Nixon who begat Kennedy-Johnson who begat Nixon-Ford who begat Carter-Mondale who begat Reagan-Bush the Elder who begat Clinton-Gore who begat Bush Jr.-Cheney who begat Obama-Biden who begat Trump-Pence.
During one of the debates prior to the election, Trump was asked the pointed question, “Will you accept the results of the election?” Trump demurred by saying, “I’ll keep you in suspense”. That answer caused horrific consternation, especially among Democrats, who were certain that Hillary would win. Their overwhelming feeling was that Trumpites might cause havoc in the streets if their candidate lost. As it turned out, the exact opposite has occurred with many Hillary-ites forming the “Resist” movement. That movement has caused many Democrat pundits to say that it is only the Democrat version of the Tea Party. However, there is no record of the Tea Party ever causing property damage and individual assault at any of their gatherings. Conversely, the Resist movement is replete with such carnage.
Probably the most interesting fact to come to light lately is that ex-President Obama’s new Washington DC residence will become the nerve center for the shattered Democratic Party’s continued obstructionism. Salient point in this revelation is the fact that Valerie Jarret will be moving in with the Obamas. Since she (Jarret) was regarded as Obama’s brain trust during his term in office, it is doubtful that the extreme liberalism promulgated by Obama will ever change.
