Spanish Springs finished second for the third time this year, grabbing the runner up spot in Monday’s High Desert League tournament at Hidden Valley County Club – Reed’s home course.
Reno battled the windy conditions to its fifth straight tournament win of the season. The Huskies carded a score of 420. It was their first score the season higher than 409. Still, Reno was 19 strokes better than Spanish Springs. Reed (453) edged McQueen (458) for third.
The Huskies Tommy Zumotobel fired a 78 – the only sub-80 round of the afternoon – to earn medalist honors. It was the second tournament Zumotobel earned at least a share of the individual title.
Pat Penrod and Nick Frankoski both shot 87s for the Cougs, one stroke better than teammates Chase Martin and Austin Woods. Trenton Humphreys turned in an 89.
Brandon Forman led the Raiders with an 80.
The final regular-season tournament of the season will be held next Tuesday at Red Hawk in Spanish Springs.
The two-day 4A North regional tournament begins Monday, May 8 at Dayton Valley Golf Course and concludes one day later.
