For decades now, a standard joke about lawyers (of which Hillary is one) has been “How do you tell when a lawyer is lying?” The answer is, “When you see their lips moving.” The latest example of this was when Hillary repeatedly stated that she had never sent nor received email classified information while secretary of state. She later amended that statement with the phrase that she had never received anything MARKED classified. This beggars the question, was she not able to recognize top secret or classified material when she saw it? Could she possibly have operated a highly sensitive State Department without ever knowing the secrets that every secretary of state should be privy to? For all her vaunted globe-trotting while secretary, was she cut off from communication with the White House? Or did the State Department run on auto-pilot in her absence?
Last week she granted her fourth national TV interview in her five- month-old campaign for the Democratic nomination. It was with usually compliant Andrea Mitchell, who had been a master of softball questions when talking to Hillary. Strangely enough, Mitchell brought up the server scandal and the fact that Hillary is now best described as a liar, untrustworthy and dishonest. Hillary quickly deflected her penchant for prevarication and told Mitchell that possibly the use of a private server was just too confusing to the average person. Apparently, Hillary does not realize the majority of voters are average people.
Also last week, her chief publicist reiterated the fact that Hillary’s primary objective in becoming president is to address women’s concerns. Hillary herself doubled down on this remark in subsequent speeches. Unlike her last campaign in 2008, she is now touting the fact that the primary reason to vote for her is the fact that she is a woman. Having her entering the gender divide is like asking Donald Trump to ask voters to vote for him because he is the most macho of men on the male side.
Adding to Hillary’s growing concern about what might come out as her aides are being summoned to testify before Congress is the fact that one Bryan Pagliano, the gentleman who helped install her private server, has said that he will take the Fifth if questioned by Congress. He has now fallen into the Lois Lerner class of a person who obviously has something to hide. Another question that should be asked of Pagliano is if he helped install the back-up server for Hillary in Denver. No word yet on whether the second server was carefully “wiped.”
While Hillary was suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, her former boss, President Obama, was cavorting in Alaska where the lengthiest TV clip was devoted to him dancing with a number of native children. Perhaps he was tuning up for a possible audition for Dancing with the Stars.
