A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot in the head while inside his apartment in what was probably a random drive-by shooting, Sparks police reported.
The boy, who was hit by a single bullet that passed through a wall, has life-threatening injuries, police said. He was not identified.
The shooting occurred about 4:40 a.m. Sunday at an apartment at 4005 Moorpark Court, north of McCarran Boulevard and between El Rancho Drive and Clear Acre Lane.
It does not appear that the victim or his family was intentionally targeted, police said, adding that the shooting was random in nature, most probably a drive-by shooting.
