Week 13 DI North Power Rankings

November 20, 2015 By Nathan Shoup Leave a Comment

Tribune photo by John Byrne – Reed senior quarterback Matt Denn and the Raiders rolled past Galena in last week’s semifinal, 35-0, to maintain their spot atop this week’s rankings and earn a berth in the DI North title game for the fifth-straight season.

To the surprise of few, Reed and Carson are the only two teams left standing.

It is the third-straight year the Raiders and Senators will play for the DI North title. The two teams are a combined 22-1 this season, the lone loss coming in a 44-27 Reed win over Carson in the season opener.

Reed cruised past Galena in last week’s semifinal while Carson intercepted a late pass against Reno to survive.

1. Reed Raiders (12-0)

The Raiders’ offense has stolen the attention this season but it was the defense that was stellar in last week’s win over Galena, pitching a shutout.

Next game: Friday vs. Carson (Sierra League No. 1)

Last week: 1

2. Carson Senators (10-1)

It was hardly easy, but Carson once again advanced to the DI North title game. Reno was without its best player, running back/safety Lukas McKenzie, and still Carson needed a late interception to seal a victory.

Next game: Friday vs. Reed (High Desert League No. 1)

Last week: 2

3. Reno Huskies (9-3)

The Huskies were without their stud and were still a late drive from sealing a spot in the regional title game. Would of. Could of.

Next game: Eliminated

Last week: 3

4. Galena Grizzlies (7-4)

Galena held Reed to its second-lowest scoring output of the season (35) last week but couldn’t get on the board. Reed’s defense was stifling. Still though, there’s no way to describe the Grizzlies’ season other than a success one year after winning just one game.

Next game: Eliminated

Last week: 4

5. McQueen Lancers (5-5)

Next game: Eliminated

Last week: 5

6. Damonte Ranch (4-7)

Next game: Eliminated

7. Spanish Springs (3-7)

Next game: Eliminated

8. Douglas Tigers (1-9)

Next game: Eliminated

Week 12 scores

Reed 35, Galena 0

Carson 27, Reno 17
