Final DI North Power Rankings

Tribune photo by Nathan Shoup – Reed players flash all five fingers after winning their fifth-straight regional title on Friday night against Carson, at Damonte Ranch, but they finished the season No. 1 in the DI North Power Rankings.

If there was a person who didn’t think Reed was the best team in Northern Nevada, they’re not saying a whole lot now.

The Raiders made it look far too easy on Friday night, breezing to a fifth-straight regional title with a convincing 56-28 win over Carson in the DI North title game at Damonte Ranch.

Carson, which is widely believed to be the second-best team in the area, finished the season 10-2, with both losses coming to Reed by a combined 45 points.

So yeah, Reed is good at football.

Here are the final DI North Power Rankings of the season, listing all 11 squads.

To view how the Power Rankings have adjusted over the course of the season, click here.

1. Reed Raiders (13-0)

What a season for the Blue and Gold.

Now, the Raiders get Gorman in the state semifinals. The Gaels (only) won their regional title game 28-10 last week over Arbor View, so, you know, if you’re looking for positives.

Next game: Saturday vs. Bishop Gorman (state semifinals)

Last week: 1

2. Carson Senators (10-2)

If it wasn’t for Reed, Carson would be the team celebrating a string of regional titles. The 2015 squad that reached 10 wins is just the third in program history to accomplish that feat.

Last week: 2

3. Reno Huskies (9-3)

Reno had three losses this season. One to Reed and two to Carson. Best of the rest.

Last week: 3

4. Galena Grizzlies (7-4)

After winning just one game a season ago, the Grizzlies celebrated seven victories this fall, one of which came in the postseason.

Last week: 4

5. McQueen Lancers (5-5)

The Lancers started the season 5-2 but with a back-loaded schedule, they struggled down the stretch.

Last week: 5

6. Damonte Ranch (4-7)

The Mustangs had talent everywhere, but never pieced it together.

7. Spanish Springs (3-7)

The Cougars actually had a worse record than last season when they missed the postseason but qualified this year. They won’t complain.

8. North Valleys (2-7)

North Valleys missed out on the postseason but did have a win over a playoff team, besting Douglas 35-27 in the season opener

9. Douglas (1-9)

Bryce James was a legit dual-treat weapon behind center but defense was optional far too much this season.

10. Bishop Manogue (1-8)

The Miners scored 94 points this season. That’s not very many.

11. Hug (1-8)

The Hawks also scored 94 points this season. Fourteen of which came in a 21-14 loss to the Miners in Week 2.
