1. Reno Huskies
The Huskies were stripped of the chance to defend their back-to-back state titles when they fell to Bishop Manogue in last year’s regional title game. Two-time Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year Mallory McGwire returns for her senior season and leads a stacked Huskies squad.
2. Bishop Manogue
The Miners are the returning top dog in Northern Nevada but are without last year’s catalyst, Breezi Holt, and are breaking in a new coach, Carlnel Wiley. Manogue returns pieces, however, and is likely the largest threat to Reno.
3. Reed Raiders
These aren’t the Raiders of old that competed for state titles but they’re still relevant. Reed returns a pair of all-league players, Serene Townsell-Williams and Taylor Anderson, and will be in the running for the right to host a playoff game.
4. Douglas Tigers
The argument could be made that no team will look more different this season than the Tigers. But the overall strength of Werner Christian’s program and the return of Maddy Lowe makes Douglas one of the teams to beat. Again.
5. McQueen Lancers
This is a team that could make a jump this year. Sadaria McAlister was an all-region selection a season ago and joins a slew of returners from last year’s team that finished fourth in the High Desert League.
