1. Reno Huskies (4-0)
The Huskies looked every bit the part of the DI North favorite they are in the first week of the season. Reno went 4-0 and outscored its opponents by a combined score of 282-129.
Last Week: 1
2. Bishop Manogue (1-0)
Without question, this is not the same Manogue team that won the regional title a season ago. This team will go as Katie Turner goes. She went for 30 in a season-opening 68-59 win over Reed.
Last Week: 2
3. Reed Raiders (0-1)
The Raiders went on the road and gave the Miners a good game before falling late. They led by six early. If a third scorer can step up for the Raiders, they can push Manogue for the No. 2 spot.
Last Week: 3
4. McQueen Lancers (5-1)
The Lancers’ schedule to start the season hasn’t exactly been daunting but they can only beat who’s in front of them. The race for the High Desert League No. 2 seed is going to be fun.
Last Week: 5
5. North Valleys Panthers (4-0)
North Valleys went 3-0 in Las Vegas last weekend after handling Douglas, 51-38, in the opener. The Panthers are very much in the conversation for the HDL No. 2 seed.

Casey says
Looks like the HDL will be a good battle this year. Also, what do you mean by “needs to hit the gym” for Damonte? Does that mean they’re not playing to their potential?
Nathan Shoup says
It’s my half-serious way of saying they need to get a little bit better, win a couple more games, to break into the top five.
