Through this Friday, residents from Sparks and the Truckee Meadows can participate in the city of Sparks’ 11th annual “Can the Mayor” food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Nevada by donating canned goods and other non-perishable food items for those who are less fortunate this holiday season.
In addition, the city is supporting Toys for Tots. The toy drive ends Wednesday, Dec. 16. Residents can bring unwrapped toys to help underprivileged children have a brighter holiday season. Items can be dropped off Monday through Friday inside the main entrance of Sparks City Hall, 431 Prater Way, during normal business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“In the spirit of giving, the city of Sparks has partnered with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and Toys for Tots to help those who are in need this holiday season,” said Mayor Geno Martini. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to make a difference in the lives of so many of our residents right here at home. Every family deserves food this holiday season, and every little kid deserves a toy.”
