Nevada transportation officials say they have made plans to break apart and move a large boulder that rolled onto U.S. 50 near Lake Tahoe.
The Nevada Department of Transportation reported that the boulder rolled onto the road in the Glenbrook area Saturday evening. Officials said it caused an accident, but no one was injured.
Contractor Q&D Construction will bring a large excavator to essentially chisel the boulder into smaller pieces that can be hauled away, officials said. The excavator was scheduled to be on site Tuesday morning.
NDOT and contract crews will then repave the damaged roadway surface where the boulder fell.
