For more than 20 years, talented creators across Nevada have been recognized by the Nevada Arts Council with the awarding of annual artist fellowship grants of up to $5,000 each. Four of the council’s fellows who work in acting, directing, prose and poetry will gather Monday, April 4 at Sierra Arts Gallery in Reno for casual and instructional discussions of their crafts along with performances.
After the performances, Fran Morrow, NAC artist services program coordinator, will provide information about the next Artist Fellowship Grant Program, and share how professional literary and performing artists in all stages of their careers can now apply for the grants.
In the “Performances, Reading and Conversations” event, the past fellows will share personal insights about how the fellowship impacted their careers. Cameron Crain, actor and director; Cindie Geddes, prose and fiction writer; and Steven Gehrke and Laura Wetherington, poets, are the featured artists for the presentation. The event is designed to welcome the public, those interested in the arts and people beginning to explore their own creativity.
Co-sponsored by Sierra Arts Foundation, the event is set for 6:30 to 8 p.m. at 17 S. Virginia St., Suite 120, and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the council at (775) 687-6680 or email NTI-Associate@nevadaculture.org.
