The Aces were one of the worst teams in the Pacific Coast League away from home last year. That trend has continued early this year.
Reno went 2-6 on its first road trip last week before returning home to Greater Nevada Field on Saturday for an eight-game home stand.
Arizona’s Triple-A affiliate was 30-42 on the road in 2015. Only New Orleans was worse. The Zephyrs were 29-43.
Fresno, the defending Triple-A National champion, came to town on Friday then following an off day on Wednesday, Albuquerque rolls into Reno for the second time of the young season. Reno and Albuquerque have already played eight times this year.
The Isotopes likely won’t complain about the frequent meetings though. They are tied for the second best record in the PCL thanks largely to a 7-1 record against the Aces. Albuquerque is 5-5 against teams not named the Aces.

Notable moves
-RHP Drew Muren, 27, was transferred from Reno to Single-A Advanced Visalia. Muren appeared in just one game with the Aces, throwing one scoreless inning in a 9-5 home loss to Albuquerque last Tuesday.
-RHP Archie Bradley, 23, was optioned back to Reno from Arizona after getting called up last week. Arizona’s No. 2 prospect appeared in one game with the big club in his most recent stint. He lasted 4.1 innings in a spot start at San Francisco last Monday, allowing 5 earned runs on 7 hits and 4 walks. He struck out a pair. The Diamondbacks rallied to win 9-7 in extra innings. Bradley is 2-1 with the Aces with 2.84 ERA.
-RHP Matt Buschmann, 32, was optioned back to Reno after making his Major League debut with the Diamondbacks earlier this season. Buschmann appeared in three games with Arizona, compiling a 2.08 ERA over 4.1 innings. He made his first appearance for the Aces on Wednesday, allowing 1 run on 3 hits over 5.1 innings of a 4-1 loss at Albuquerque.
Who’s hot?
-Jack Reinheimer. Still. Reno’s 23-year-old shortstop, Arizona’s No. 9 prospect, saw his nine-game hitting streak come to a close on Sunday but he still sits near the top of several offensive categories in the PCL. He’s batting .375 (t-5th) with 27 hits (1st), 40 total bases (t-3rd).
Who’s not?
-The bullpen. Reno had a 12-0 lead after six innings in Sunday’s win over Fresno when starter Kyle Drabek left the game. It’s a good thing the lead was as large as it was. Relievers Seth Simmons and Kaleb Fleck allowed 7 runs on 7 hits over the final three frames.
