Fiesta, fiesta — We’re having a party! Celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the two-year anniversary of Art Walk Reno on May 5 at 5 p.m. Art Walk has worked with more than 20 businesses in the Downtown/Riverwalk corridor, raising money and awareness for Reno’s growing art movement and area nonprofits. This month, a portion of Art Walk Reno proceeds raised will benefit Our Center, an organization that addresses advocacy, education and services for the Northern Nevada LGBTQ community.
The May Art Walk will start at 5 p.m. at West St. Market plaza,. Purchase a ticket for $5, or get the classic Art Spot glass for $10. A VIP ticket for $15 includes a limited-edition, hand-painted glass by this month’s featured artist, Jessica White. White creates traditional portraits in oil and ink, using muted colors to paint depictions of everyday moments in life. She will be on hand to talk about her work throughout the evening, and will discuss her exhibition in the Riverside Hub, located 727 Riverside Dr. Come early to purchase one of her limited edition hand painted glasses and prints. Art Walk tickets also can be purchased at Art Indeed!, 142 Bell St. Artists of all genres are also encouraged to set up and sell their wares in the plaza and throughout the neighborhood.
For the first time, Art Walk Reno is offering two guided tours, leaving at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The evening will end with a raffle of more than $500 in prizes back at West St. Market at 8:15 p.m., including a $200 gift certificate good towards any piece of art on the walk.
