Sparks residents Tirzah Sneed (left) and Charlene Young (right) laid flowers at the grave site of family members Byron Young and his wife Joyce on Monday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley. Byron, a Navy Veteran of World War II, was a 1940 era Sparks High School graduate. Thousands gathered for the Memorial Day ceremony where Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval delivered one of the keynote speeches. More photos on page 6.
