Excel Christian School in Sparks graduated 20 students on June 11
It was a teary-eyed and joyful morning on Saturday June 11 when 20 graduates of Excel Christian School received their diplomas and bid adieu to their beloved high school.
Principal Lisa Cross began the ceremonies by thanking all of the parents, grandparents, and guardians for partnering with her and the other staff members in supporting the students and helping them through to graduation day. A prayer was then given by Vice Principal David Ryan and the National Anthem sung by Melissa Dahir.
The Athlete of the Year award was then presented by Athletic Director Justin May to Noah Dahir for his outstanding achievements in multiple sports, but most notably basketball which he will continue to play next year at Feather River College.
The Senior Project Award was then presented by Janine May to Zachary Guevin who will be studying musical theatre at Vanguard University.
Excel Christian School’s 2016 Salutatorian Andrea Lynne Arteaga then gave a speech recounting her years at the school that helped her “grow and flourish.”
Then each graduate was given a prayer blessing by various pastors and members of the school and community.
The valedictorian, Dalila Hurtado then gave a humorous and light-hearted speech which she dedicated to her fellow graduates.
After the presentation of diplomas, Board Chair David Sanders closed the ceremonies.
