The Cougars have now won two straight High Desert League tournaments since finishing second in the first tourney of the year.
Spanish Springs finished with a team score of 349 on Tuesday at Washoe Golf Course, 31 strokes in front of runner-up McQueen. Reno (430) took third. Hug, North Valleys and Reed did not have enough golfers to compete in the team tournament.
Emma Gilmore and Jada McAlister both fired 78s to lead the Cougars and share medalist honors, although McAlister technically won the tiebreaker (lowest score on the back nine). Katelyn Gilbertson (93) and Ciara Hornbarger (100) rounded out the Cougs’ card.
For Reed, Kaitlin Fleiner shot an 88 and Abby Horner turned in a 95.
The fourth of six HDL tournaments will be held Monday at Sierra Sage. The Cougars can lock up at least a share of the league title with a win.
