Sparks outshot Elko 20-5 at home on Friday and still suffered its first loss of the season, 3-2.
The Railroaders dropped to 7-1, 2-1 in 3A North play. The Indians improved to 4-5-3, 1-0-2.
Johanan Sorto scored nine minutes into the second half (Genaro Vazquez assist) to give Sparks a 2-1 lead. Elko drew even 11 minutes later in the 60th, then scored the game winner with five minutes left in regulation on a counter attack.

The Indians led 1-0 after just six minutes. Jesus Partida scored an unassisted goal in the 29th minute to pull Sparks even at 1-1.
The Railroaders will look to bounce back on Saturday at home against Spring Creek.
Sparks girls end losing streak
Sparks snapped a four-game skid on Friday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Elko.
The Railroaders improved to 3-4, 1-2 in 3A North play. The Indians remained winless in league play.
Lizeth Garcia scored the match’s lone goal in the 60th minutes off an assist from Angie Hurtado.
The Railroaders host Spring Creek on Saturday at noon.
