The Railroaders outshot the guest Lakers, 28-4, on Friday night. It didn’t result in a win.
Sparks (9-1-1, 4-1-1) and North Tahoe (4-3-3, 3-0-3) played to a 0-0 tie in their inaugural 3A North matchup.
Two of Sparks’ shots hit the crossbar, one hit the post.
“(It was a) very physical game,” Sparks coach Jose Espana said. “I am proud with ow the boys responded to that. (We) need to keep working hard on finishing.”
Espana made special mention of keeper Jose Cerritos who pitched a shutout.
The Railroaders will look to get back in the win column on Monday at Fernley.
Sparks girls tie North Tahoe
Sparks went to North Tahoe on Friday and salvaged a point with a 3-3 draw.
The Railroaders moved to 3-4-2, 1-2-1 in the 3A North with their second straight tie. The Lakers, new to the 3A North, are now 4-2-2, 2-1-0.
Mileidy Cano put Sparks on the board in the 25th minute and Lizeth Garcia found the net twice, in the 60th and 75th minutes.
The Railroaders continue league play on Monday at home against Fernley.
