Sparks was handed an awfully difficult task on Saturday afternoon at Truckee.
Losers of their previous three, the Railroaders went on the road to take on an undefeated Wolverine program that has awoken from its slumber the last few years. Truckee won its three previous games by a combined score of 143-0.
So it should come as little surprise that Sparks’ losing streak was pushed to four games with a 63-15 loss.
The Railroaders dropped to 1-5, 1-5 in the 3A North. The Wolverines remained perfect at 6-0, 6-0.
Truckee racked up 476 yards of offense, 349 on the ground. On the other sideline, Sparks was held to 182 yards.
Hunter O’Meara was responsible for the vast majority Sparks’ offense, running for 109 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
Truckee led 27-0 at the half before the game got away from Sparks in the third.
With just three games left in the regular season, Sparks faces what amounts to a must-win on Friday night at home against Fallon.
The Greenwave are 3-3, 3-3.
For some perspective, Fallon lost at Truckee in the second week of the season, 28-12.
