The Cougars missed out on a big opportunity at home on Thursday night.
Spanish Springs hosted Reno and with a win, would’ve opened up a two-game lead over McQueen and a three-game lead over Reno atop the High Desert League.
Instead, the Huskies handed the Cougars their first home loss of the season 25-20, 17-25, 25-22, 25-22.
The loss dropped Spanish Springs to 21-5, 8-2 in the 4A North. Reno improved to 12-7, 7-3 pulling even with McQueen for second place, one game back of Spanish Springs.
Emily Moore put down a game-high 20 kills in the loss. Jordyn Boswell had 13.
Mackenzie O’Connell passed out 41 assists to go along with seven digs, four aces and a kill. Kennedey Stroshine led the team with 17 digs.
The Cougars will try to bounce back on Tuesday at home against Reed.
Raiders cruise
Reed improved to 5-12, 3-7 on Thursday night with a 25-12, 25-10, 25-16 home sweep of winless Hug.
Things get tougher for the Raiders on Tuesday night, as they go to first-place Spanish Springs.
