Spanish Springs primed itself for a huge match at McQueen on Wednesday with a sweep at North Valleys on Tuesday night.
The Cougars rolled to 28-6, 10-2 in the 4A North with the 25-11, 25-13, 25-12 win over the Panthers.
Emily Moore led the way with 11 kills. Jordyn Boswell had 10 and Ireland Bennett had seven.
Mackenzie O’Connell passed out 22 assists to go along with seven digs, six aces and a kill.
With another win on Wednesday, the Cougars would all but lock up the High Desert League title. They’d maintain a two-game lead over Reno, and open up a three-game lead over McQueen, with three matches remaining.
The Cougars swept the Lancers (16-10, 8-4) at home a month ago.
It will be a familiar setting for both teams. Spanish Springs had the chance to clinch the league title at McQueen last year, but lost in five.
Reed swept by Reno
The Raiders’ brief two-game winning streak came to a close on Tuesday night.
Reed (7-14, 5-9) was swept in straight sets at home by Reno 14-25, 15-25, 11-25. The Huskies (14-5, 9-4) moved a half game ahead of McQueen for second place in the High Desert League with the win.
The Raiders host the Lancers on Thursday night.
