Football: Raiders win eighth straight

October 21, 2016 By Sparks Tribune Leave a Comment

Reed breezed to its eighth straight win on Friday night, 49-20 at Hug. Reed

The Raiders (8-1, 4-0) now sit in first place all alone after Spanish Springs (5-3, 3-1) lost to Reno (8-1, 3-1). Hug (0-7, 0-4) was officially eliminated from postseason contention with the loss and McQueen’s win.

Senior receiver Michael Spivack had a stat night in the rout, catching six passes for 168 yards.

Junior quarterback Cameron Emerson accounted for 330 total yards of offense. He completed 10-of-14 passes for 220 yards and ran for 110 yards on just eight carries.

Reed enacted the running clock mercy rule in the second quarter, taking a 42-7 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders can wrap up the High Desert League title in Thursday’s regular-season finale at home against Spanish Springs.
