With the presidential election a week away, the two candidates are firing their most explosive rhetoric against one another.
In Donald Trump’s case, he has a lot of red meat to chew on in that he can blast his opponent on her lack of job creation, her dangerous approach to the Supreme Court, her support of Obama Care and her preference for open borders throughout the Western Hemisphere.
As for Hillary Clinton, she has reverted to her two main themes of continuing the Obama “progress” and the issue of gender. In a rally late last week, she dragged Michelle Obama on stage and quoted the three things she liked best about the First Lady. They were Michelle’s uncanny talent at Karaoke, the awesome ability she shows when dancing with her husband and the fact that Michelle created a wonderful vegetable garden at the White House. In the elections of 2008 and 2012, if you spoke ill of the Democrat candidate, you were immediately labelled “racist”. In the election of 2016, if you choose to denigrate the Democrat candidate, you are called “sexist”.
There have been many metaphors created to define the present presidential contest. The best one I have heard to date is that of comparing the race to a bullfight. In that arena, Hillary Clinton has been described as the Toreador. Imagine if you can, Hillary as a Toreador clad in a form fitting Spandex bull fighter outfit. Her sword and cape, in addition to the piccadores represent the mainstream media. The angry bull is the much-irritated Donald Trump. Every time the bull makes a charge, he is distracted by the aforementioned cape and sword. The only thing to remember is that the Toreador doesn’t always win.
Adding to Hillary’s woes is the bad news, released by the White House, that the Obama Care insurance premiums are about to skyrocket. Since Hillary has touted her support for Obama Care, she now has an almost impossible wall to hurdle. The White House solution to the rising costs of the (un)Affordable Care Act was to call in the architect, Jonathan Gruber, who famously stated that the American public was too “stupid” to understand how the wool was being pulled over their eyes. His solution to the current crisis is to raise the penalty for not buying insurance through Obama Care, another hit on the already depleted economy for the middle class.
Adding to Hillary’s woes is the constant drip of Wikileaks emails that show her to be not quite right in her head, prone to periods of distraction, failing to work in concert with her team and having a propensity for not telling the truth. She has also stated that she needs to have a public face and a private face when talking to her donors and the general electorate. She also stated in private that it is very difficult for a person of her elitist status to even identify with the common middle class.
Hillary has always been noted for speaking in a shrill fashion whenever the polls get close. Currently she has escalated to screeching, much like a fingernail drawn across a blackboard.
