Spanish Springs won Wednesday night’s home league dual against Hug by the largest score possible.
The Cougars won their 58th straight league dual by the lopsided score of 58-0. The Hawks forfeited 11 of the 14 weight classes.
Spanish Springs won the only four matches of the night by pin. Anthony Sissom (106) won just over a minute into the second round. Cole Drescher (160) needed just 51 seconds, Casey Preston (195) ended his match in 58 seconds, and Tyler Barats (285) pinned his opponent 53 seconds in.
The Cougars can clinch their 10th straight league title next Wednesday, at home, against Reno.
Reed no match for McQueen
Reed dropped to 1-2 in league duals with a 55-18 loss at McQueen on Wednesday night.
“We got thumped,” Reed coach Michael Klapp said. “Not our best outing after contesting with them at the Sparks Tournament this weekend.”
Izzy Casarez (152) won by technical fall. Randy Nemedez pinned his opponent. And Josh Berryman picked up “an impressive win.”
Reed will try to level its record next Wednesday at Hug.
