Can anyone knock off Bishop Manogue?
That was the story of the regular season and that will once again be the story of the 4A North regional tournament which starts on Wednesday.
The first round will be played at host sites. Carson is hosting the semifinals and title game.

1. Bishop Manogue Miners (22-2, 16-0)
Make it 49 straight wins over regional competition.
The Miners are undoubtedly the favorites heading in the regional tournament. They’ve won the last two.

2. Reno Huskies (23-4, 15-1)
Coach Shane Foster’s team provides the biggest threat to Bishop Manogue’s supremacy.
Junior Mikayla Shults is one of the best two or three players in the 4A North.

3. Reed Raiders (18-5, 12-4)
The Raiders go into the postseason playing their best ball of the year. They’ve won six of their last seven.
If this young Reed team can get past Carson at home in the quarterfinal on Wednesday night, it will likely have to find a way to beat Bishop Manogue.

4. Spanish Springs Cougars (17-9, 11-5)
A tough schedule to close the season led to two losses last week and a road playoff game.
Spanish Springs opens the regional tournament on Wednesday night at Douglas. The Cougars’ last playoff win? Four years ago, at Douglas.

5. McQueen Lancers (16-10, 10-6)
The good for the Lancers? They’re in the postseason.
The bad? They’re lined up to be the 50th straight 4A North team topped by Bishop Manogue.
