Julia Jensen struck out 12 in a complete-game effort to lead the Raiders to a 7-2 win over Christian Brothers (Sacramento, Calif.) in Saturday’s Sacramento trip finale.
The Raiders improved to 4-0-1, 0-0.
Both runs charged to Jensen were unearned. She gave up four hits and walked to batters.
Jensed did it with the bat, too. She went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Aliya Lange (2-for-2, double, run), Jessica Sellers (2-for-2, two runs) and Allie Hughes (2-for-3, triple, RBI, run) also had nice days at the dish.
The Raiders started fast, plating two runs in the first and three runs in the second to spot Jensen a 5-0 lead.
Reed starts 4A North play on Thursday at home against Damonte Ranch.
Cougars top Oak Ridge, Folsom
Spanish Springs picked up two wins on Saturday in Sacramento to end the annual California trip.
The Cougars (3-2, 0-0) start their 4A North slate on Thursday afternoon at Wooster.
Spanish Springs 2, Oak Ridge 1
A two-run third was all the Cougs needed in Saturday’s final game, a narrow 2-1 victory over Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, Calif.).
Spanish Springs 10, Folsom 4
Spanish Springs had no problem with Folsom in the first of two games on Saturday.
Mirinda Nichols was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits over 4.2 innings to pick up the win.
Freshman Hunter Travers went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and scored once. Rylee Retzer was a perfect 3-for-3. She also drove in three and scored a run.
