Huskies’ Hall edges Cougs’ Frankoski for medalist honors
Reno completed the sweep of all six High Desert League tournaments on Tuesday with a commanding victory at Red Hawk.
Led by medalist Jerimiah Hall, who fired a 72, the Huskies turned in a team score of 378 on the Lakes Course – 20 strokes better than host Spanish Springs. It was easily Reno’s lowest score of the year. Its previous best was 395 at Sierra Sage.
Reed took third with a 413, in front of McQueen (452).
Spanish Springs’ 398 was also a season best. The Cougars shot their previous low round at Sierra Sage as well, a 407.
Nick Frankoski was one stroke off Hall’s pace, finishing with a 73 for the Cougs. Logan Cox (79), Austin Woods (80), Pat Penrod (82) and Payne Avera (84) followed.
KC Daylo shot the Raiders’ low round of the afternoon, a 76. He was trailed by Brandon Forman (80), Jimmy Harris (81), Evan Way (86) and Cade Baker (90).
It’s now on to the two-day regional tournament which starts Monday at Dayton Valley and concludes the following afternoon.
The top two teams as well as the top five individuals on non-qualifying squads will earn a spot in the two-day state tournament at Toiyabe Golf Club May 15-16.
