Nearly 28 percent of selections are on bump

Pitching is an integral part of baseball. Some would claim it’s the most significant aspect.
The 4A North baseball coaches would be in that group.
On Saturday night, the 4A North all-league baseball teams were released and of the 76 selections (6.3 per team), 21 were pitchers. Nine received first-team honors, nine landed on the second team and three picked up honorable mention.
Spanish Springs put eight players on all-league squads, tied for the second most in the 4A North along with Damonte Ranch and Wooster. Reno led the way with 11 selections. Reed had five.
Galena, which won the 4A North tournament and went on to take second at state, had six selections. That tied Carson for the seventh most of the 12 4A North schools.
The Grizzlies went 2-2 at state, matching Northern Nevada’s collective win total against Southern Nevada in the final tournament of the year over the previous six seasons.
