Aces win five of first seven on 11-game road trip
Reno took three of four at Tacoma then two of three at Sacramento to start its season-long 11-game road trip.
With the five road victories, the Aces have opened up a four-game lead over the Rainiers atop the Pacific Northern Division and own the best record in the Pacific Coast League.
Reno melts away the road trip with four games at Salt Lake, which owns a 3.5-game lead over Albuquerque for first place in the Pacific Southern Division, then returns to Greater Nevada Field for an eight-game home stand.
The Aces have a PCL-best 21 wins at home.

-RHP Silvino Bracho, 24, was promoted to Arizona for already the fourth time this season. In his first day back with the big club, on Thursday, he threw two scoreless innings in a 15-3 home dismantling of San Diego. He gave up just one hit with two strikeouts and didn’t walk anyone. In Reno this year, Bracho is 2-1 with a 1.53 ERA over 17.2 innings.
-RHP Braden Shipley, 25, was demoted back to Reno after his second start of the season with Arizona. He allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits over five innings and took the loss in a 6-5 defeat at Miami last Sunday. He’s 0-1 with an ERA of 7.00 with the Diamondbacks. The Nevada product was 4-5 with a 5.27 ERA over 70 innings in Arizona last year.
-RHP Zack Godley, 27, was promoted back to Arizona three days after he was sent back to Reno. Godley is enjoying a breakout season. His record is only 1-1, but his ERA rested at a superb 2.39 in 37.2 innings of work when he was called back up. Opponents were only hitting .237 off him.
Who’s hot?
Jimmie Sherfy. Sherfy struck out four River Cats in two innings of work in Friday’s 6-4 17-inning win at Sacramento. Sherfy has recorded 30 strikeouts this season, walking just two in 22 innings pitched. His 15-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio is best on the Reno pitching staff.

Saturday blues. Reno won five of its first seven to start its season-long 11-game road trip, but fell 5-2 at Sacramento on Saturday night. More than 29 percent of the Aces’ losses have come on Saturday, when they are 3-7.
