Damonte Ranch unanimously picked to defend league title
All five Sierra League coaches anonymously participated in the Sparks Tribune 2017 preseason poll.
For the first time in the poll’s three-year history, Carson was not picked to win the league title. That distinction instead went to defending 4A North champion Damonte Ranch, which picked up all five first-place votes.
The coaches are looking to rebound from a tough year in the poll. They incorrectly picked the finish of all five Sierra League squads in 2016.
Reed was picked to win the High Desert League, garnering four of the six first-place votes.
Here’s how the Sierra League coaches picked their side of the 4A North to finish this fall:
1. Damonte Ranch 25 (5, 7*)
2. Carson 17
3. Bishop Manogue 14 (2*)
4. Douglas 12
5. Galena 7
