Spanish Springs absorbed its first loss of the season on Thursday night at Douglas.
The Cougars (7-5, 3-1) were swept in straight sets by the Tigers (6-2, 3-0) in MInden, 20-25, 15-25, 9-25.
“We just couldn’t get any rhythm, and when we were in system, which was rare, we couldn’t find a way to put away the ball,” Spanish Springs coach Alix Cirac said.
Jordyn Boswell led the Cougars with eight kills. Kirstin Bennett passed out a team-high 16 assists and got up eight digs.
Spanish Springs goes to Galena (8-2, 3-0) on Tuesday night.
Said Cirac: “We’re going to have to regroup.”
Raiders handled in state capital
Reed remained winless in 4A North play on Thursday night, getting swept 17-25, 22-25, 13-25 on the road at Carson.
The Raiders dropped to 4-8, 0-4. The Senators improved to 4-7, 1-3.
“(We) have to work together as a team to be successful and we haven’t figured out how to do that yet,” Reed coach Amy Morris said.
Reed will take the trip south out I-395 again on Tuesday night to play Douglas (6-2, 3-0).
