Spanish Springs continued its impressive season last week with a convincing 4-1 win over rival Reed.
The Cougars scored twice in the first half and twice in the second and spread out the scoring between four players. Edwin Maldonado, Anibal Gonzales, Jose Valdivia and Wilmer Hernandez all reached the back of the net in the win that locked up first place and the top seed in the regional tournament for Spanish Springs (13-3-3, 7-1-2).
Reed (8-10-1, 4-5-10 finished in fourth place and ended up with the third seed.
The two teams could meet up again tomorrow if they are able to win their quarterfinal games. The Cougs took on Spanish Springs yesterday at home while Reed played at Wooster.
The regional championship game is set for Saturday at 2 p.m.
