The Railroaders won a pair of big games last week to finish in third place in the 3A Northern Conference and earn the third seed in this week’s playoffs.
Brandon Paz, Cesar Hernandez, Bryan Munoz and Kevin Monreal all scored goals in Sparks’ 4-3 win over Incline last Monday. Sparks went on to score three second-half goals in a 3-0 home win over Lowry last Wednesday to finish the season 14-6-1 overall and 11-4-1 in conference play.
The team will now play Elko tomorrow at Lowry High School at 3 p.m. in the regional quarterfinals. The Railroaders have already defeated the Indians twice this season, 3-0 on Sept. 8 on the road and 2-1 on Oct. 6 at home.
The winner of that game will play the winner of North Tahoe and Dayton on Friday for the right to move on to the regional championship Saturday.
