Fall is here and colorful leaves are already carpeting neighborhoods. As homeowners take up the task of raking and bagging all that debris, Waste Management wants to remind City of Sparks and Unincorporated Washoe County residential customers about a service option that will make disposal a bit easier. An extra waste collection, no sticker required.
During the month of November residential customers in Sparks and Unincorporated Washoe County may leave an additional six bags, boxes or bundles — not to exceed 3’ x 3’ x 3’ or 40 pounds — outside the container on their service day without using an excess waste sticker. This program, which is included in residential services for Sparks and Unincorporated Washoe County, is a great opportunity for homeowners to remove vegetation that might clog storm drains when winter weather arrives.
This excess waste removal is not included in residential rates for City of Reno customers. However, residential customers in the City of Reno may use their excess waste stickers for additional curbside collection during leaf drop season. In addition, four trips to the transfer station per year are included in services for residential customers in Sparks, Reno and Unincorporated Washoe County. Each trip is limited to one standard pick-up truck load (or three cubic yards) of trash per visit. Accounts must be current. Please bring ID or proof of your account.
Got a big clean-up project? Lockwood Regional Landfill has restored weekend hours. The landfill, which is located off exit 23 on I-80 eastbound (2700 Mustang Road) is now open to the public Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
