Karen-Marie “Sunnee”
Karen-Marie, also affectionately known as “Sunnee” was born in Muskegon, Michigan on November 13, 1947, to proud parents Howard & Elaine Kraus, and spent her young-adult years in the Cincinnati area. In 1973, after traveling parts of the world and pursuing various levels of her education, Karen-Marie wed Harvey L. Hicks, a Navy veteran. They enjoyed traveling across the United States for their honeymoon, eventually settling in San Diego where their eldest daughter, Michele was born. Harvey and Karen-Marie then moved to the Susanville area where Michele was joined by her sister Jennifer. Shortly after they moved to Sparks, NV and Karen-Marie spent many years enjoying the beautiful sunsets in the Truckee Meadows. Karen-Marie wed the Reverend Jack W. Glidewell on Easter Sunday in 1989. Pastor Jack preceded Karen-Marie in death in 1999, as did her parents, Howard & Elaine, and her younger brother Jeff Kraus. Karen-Marie is survived by her two daughters, Michele E. LaHue (nee Hicks) and Jennifer J. Hicks, along with her sister Mary Ann Harrison, of Ohio.
Sunnee enjoyed spending her retirement years on her passions of serving others, developing life purposes, and creating a Living Centre which shares the experiences of elders and youths, offering a graceful and wellness-centered opportunity.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Sparks United Methodist Church (1231 Pyramid Way, Sparks, NV 89431) on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. As she lived in life surrounded by love and openness, all are welcomed. Smiling, we go forward.
