After a season ending split between Spanish Springs and Reed, the two Sparks squads could meet again this week if both get their way in the opening round of the 4A Northern Regional playoffs.
The Cougs locked up the top seed in the tournament that begins tomorrow after winning three of our games last week. They knocked off Reno 8-0 and 9-6 on Tuesday and Thursday last week before blasting the Raiders 15-0 in game one of their doubleheader on Saturday and falling 4-2 in the afternoon. Those wins gave the Cougs a 26-3 overall season record and 18-2 in league play.
On the other side of things, Reed’s victory on Saturday moved them into fourth place in the High Desert League and earned them the fourth seed in the playoffs where they will face Carson tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Bishop Manogue High School.
Spanish Springs is set to take on the No. 8 seed Reno at the same time and location on field 1. The winner of both of those games will meet on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with the losers falling into the loser’s bracket and playing later on Thursday. The championship is scheduled for Saturday at 12 p.m.
