The playoffs matchups are all set for high school soccer in the Northern region.
On the girls side of things, back-to-back ties with Reed and Reno to end the season gave Spanish Springs the slight edge to finish in first place and take the top seed from the High Desert League. They took on the No. 4 seed Bishop Manogue yesterday from the Sierra League with the winner taking on the winner of Douglas and McQueen tomorrow.
The Raiders dropped to the second seed and played No. 3 Damonte Ranch yesterday. The winner will face the winner of No. 1 seed Galena and No. 4 Reno tomorrow. The title game is set for Friday at Damonte Ranch High School.
For the boys, Spanish Springs earned the No. 1 seed and the HDL crown despite falling to Reed in its final game Oct. 22. The loss was the first for the Cougs that enter the playoffs 14-1 overall.
Spanish Springs knocked off Bishop Manogue 3-0 in the quarterfinals on Monday and will take on Wooster today at Damonte Ranch. Galena and Hug make out the other side of the bracket with the winners of both semifinal games meeting in the title game Saturday.
Reed missed out on the postseason after finishing 2-4-2 in conference play.
In the 3A division, Sparks earned the No. 2 seed and will meet Yerington tomorrow in South Tahoe at 5 p.m. The winner will play either Fernley or South Tahoe tomorrow with the championship game set for Saturday. North Valleys will play Dayton and North Tahoe will battle Truckee in the quarterfinals of the top half of the bracket.
The Railroaders finished the year in second place with a league record of 16-1-1.
