Four in double figures and much improved free throw shooting helped lead the Nevada women’s basketball team to its first win of the season, a 76-67 road victory at Long Beach State.
The Wolf Pack (1-2) got standout performances from a couple of its veterans in junior Camariah King and senior Jade Redmon. King poured in a career and game-high 20 points, knocking down four 3-pointers, while Redmon added a season-high 18 points, going 10-of-12 from the free throw line. Redmon is the only Pack player who has scored in double figures in all three games to start the season.
Nevada held the advantage in every quarter of the game except the second and increased its scoring production in every quarter as well, pouring in a season-high 23 in the fourth. With under eight to play in the final quarter, Long Beach State, which trailed by 13 at one point, tied the game at 56. An 11-0 run by the Pack though after that tie, capped off by a pair of free throws from Hamilton, ultimately sealed the win for Nevada.
Nevada returns home to host the Nugget Classic this coming weekend. The Wolf Pack will face Colorado Friday at 2 p.m. and take on USC Sunday at 2 p.m.
