Spanish Springs is off to a perfect start after three more wins last week moved them to 6-0 on the young season.
Dante Craig scored a team-high 17 points and Leo Grass netted 16 for the Cougars in a 68-44 win over Servite, Calif. on Wednesday. Mason Whitaker led the team with nine board and also added seven points in the win.
Two days later, Spanish Springs hosted Grants Pass, Ore. and came away with a 61-48 victory. Grass had another big game with 15 points while Trey Hummel and Brock OConnell each added 10.
Grass had his third straight game in double figures on Saturday when he scored 19 points in a 63-54 win against Grant out of Sacramento. Cordell Stinson also had 19 and DJ Panfili dropped 10 points in a game that saw the Cougs erase an 11-point fourth quarter deficit.
The Cougs have just two games this week and play at Carson Friday night after hosting Galena yesterday.
Reed
It was another big week for the Reed boys basketball team.
Just three days after knocking off Elko, the Raiders took down Galena 73-51 Tuesday before winning three more at the Nevada Union Tournament. Reed beat El Camino, Calif. 83-71 on Thursday and then took down Nevada Union, Calif. 62-50 on Friday. The boys rounded out the tournament on Saturday with a 59-44 win over River Valley, Calif.
The wins moved Reed to 6-0 overall to start the season. They hosted Carson yesterday and play at Wooster Friday night at 7 p.m.
