Reed
Boys: The Raiders continued their impressive season with a pair of easy wins to open up High Desert League play last week.
Reed knocked off McQueen 60-43 last Tuesday on the road and then won at Hug Friday night, 58-24.
The wins improved the boys to 16-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They hosted Reno yesterday in the only game this week before their showdown with Spanish Springs next Tuesday.
Girls: Reed stepped into the conference schedule for the first time last week and came away with two wins in the process. The Raiders won on the road at McQueen 65-58 and then at Hug Friday 56-49.
The girls sit at 2-0 in the High Desert League before their game last night against Reno.
Spanish Springs
Boys: Leo Grass scored a team-high 17 points and Mason Whittaker added 13 as the Cougs raced past McQueen 68-34 Friday. Cordell Stinson had eight points and pulled down nine rebounds in a game that Spanish Springs led 42-15 at halftime.
It was the only game of the week for the Cougs (15-3, 1-0). They hit the road this week and played at Hug yesterday and at Reno Friday night.
Girls: Spanish Springs’ girls team got off to a hot start Friday at home against McQueen and never looked back in a 71-45 win. The girls led by nine after the first quarter and 38-23 at the half as they cruised to the victory.
The Cougars (13-5, 1-0) join the boys to play at Hug and Reno this week.
Sparks
The Railroader boys fell to Lowry 63-23 Saturday and lost 81-24 at Churchill County the night before. Sparks (3-13, 0-9) will look for its first league win this week when they host Truckee, Elko and Spring Creek.
The Sparks girls will be searching for their first win of the season this week at home to those same schools.
