The biggest story last week was the burning of Norte Dame in Paris. The only good news that came out of that tragedy was that the President of France promised to rebuild the Cathedral. The further good news was that in just a couple of days over 1 billion dollars had been collected for the project.
The other story that was knocked off the front page by the Paris tragedy was that of President Trump’s proposal to send illegal aliens to sanctuary cities and states. In announcing his plan he backed the Democrats into a corner because he forced them to state their acceptance based on their previous commitments to welcome illegals with “open arms”. One liberal who came to Trumps side of the argument was the celebrity Cher. She said that it was inconceivable that her city of Los Angeles would be able accommodate such an influx since there were already 50 thousand homeless in L.A. at the present time.
Many Democrats chastised Trump by saying that it would be impossible to transport such a mass of people to prime sanctuary spots. They seemed to forget that the same problem would occur if they shipped them anywhere in the United States.
While this is being written, prior to the release of the Mueller Report, it is interesting to note that most of the mainstream media is already second guessing Attorney General Bill Barr and are being led by the hyperbolic Chris Matthews whose leg may have returned to normal since Obama left the scene. As far as Barr is concerned he has made it perfectly clear that the report will be redacted in accordance with the current law. Trump haters, led by Nadler, Schiff and Pelosi have vowed to go to the courts in order to obtain an unredacted copy of the report.
In a rare appearance Michelle Obama has issued a statement that compares with her famous “For the first time I am proud of my country” which she uttered when her husband was first elected. This time she said that “living in the country now is like living with a divorced dad”.
With the increasing turmoil at the southern border most of the Democrats that pooh-poohed it as a “manufactured crisis” by Trump have suddenly changed their tune.
The latest lightweight to enter the Democrat Presidential Primary is the young Mayor of South Bend. Were he to be elected President we would have instead of a First Lady in the White House it would be his spouse the First Gentleman.
Speaking of the Democrats in the upcoming Presidential contest it might be well to discuss some of their planks for their platform that have been espoused by them. They would include open borders, rights for illegal immigrants, sanctuary cities and states, Medicare for all, abolish the Electoral College, change the Constitution, spend trillions of dollars on climate change, raise taxes, infanticide, confiscating guns, repatriations and continuing investigations.
On the Medicare for all, which is one of Bernie Sanders favorites he is proposing raising taxes and illuminating the insurance industry so that Government would be in charge of all health care. On the Electoral College issue most of the candidates so far have proposed that it should be done in order that the liberal, large States on both coasts could control the elections. Most are in favor of changing the Constitution in order to make it a more favorable document. One of the candidates, Eric Swalwell, has proposed prison time for Americans who will not give up some of their guns. Last week we discussed the impossible task to figure out the progeny of slaves that are entitled to reparations. The enormous task of getting documentation for actual slave descendants would be a herculean task that would force the creation of a huge bureaucratic office, which most Dems would embrace. Other than the Mueller item the new investigatory topic of the Democrats it the desire to have Trumps tax returns released for the past 6 years. Trump has responded that in no way will he release the returns while he is under audit.
In regard to climate change according to my assistant Alexa there are some 57 million plus square miles of land in the world, of that amount the United States is some 3 million plus and of the world population the U.S. has 4.5% of the total. Since our piece of the Earth is so miniscule and our population so small how can we possibly effect the climate of the entire globe?
