By the middle of last week there was a plethora of major news stories that would have delighted the most hard-hearted editor. Number one was the historic scene of a United States President setting foot in North Korea. When President Trump was in Osaka, Japan for the G20 meeting he issued one of his famous tweets in which he invited North Korea leader Kim Jong-un to meet with him at the DMZ. As a result, Kim did show up on very short notice and the two leaders agreed to resume talks.
Naturally, the liberal press was outraged over the fact that Trump acted on his own and gave Kim international status. No matter what Trump does the left wingers will always criticize him. They have yet to realize that one of the reasons Trump was elected is that he is anything but politically correct. As a no-nonsense business man he brought a new style to the White House. Despite all his naysayers, Trump is not about to change his style.
Trump is often compared to his predecessor, President Obama when it comes to foreign policy. The same critics of Trump cozying up to dictators are the ones who fawned over Obama’s worshiping at the feet of Venezuela’s Chavez and doing the wave at a baseball game with Castro as he opened relations with that island nation***.
KAEPERNICK SCORES AGAIN. Colin’s latest foray into the political world was to cancel the issuance of a Nike patriotic sneaker that featured the Betsy Ross flag on the heel. He said that he was personally offended by the flag, just as he was when he took a knee at NFL games. He not only caused havoc in the NFL ranks, but he followed that with demonizing law enforcement by wearing socks that depicted policemen as pigs. No one knows why Kaepernick went off the rails and gave up a lucrative football career to become a social disrupter. As he is under contract to Nike his word has become law at that company. Most reactions to Kaepernick’s action were negative and further distanced him from the mainstream. One wag suggested that if Colin hates American symbols so much perhaps he should give up his American citizenship and move to a country more in line with his philosophy.
Having met Colin during his football days at Nevada, I am amazed at the transformation that has occurred. At school he was an affable and likable young man with an unlimited future in any sport he chose. Now he has turned into as much of a race baiter as Sharpton and Kamala Harris.
As for Harris, she has vaulted in the Democratic Party presidential race with her attack on Joe Biden at the first Democrat debate. When she played the race card against Joe, she was criticized by the extremely smug black CNN pundit Don Lemon for not being an Afro-American but rather of Jamaican and Indian heritage. That message was also issued by Donald Trump Jr., for which he was roundly criticized while Lemon was lauded for his comments.
Because race has become such an important issue in American politics, at this time it might be well to point out that Barack Obama was not the first black president, but rather was the first mulatto President because of his mixed race heritage. Because of that fact it was predicted that Obama could bring the country together. But instead he started a more extreme racial division***.
CRISIS IS “REAL”. President Trump’s so called manufactured crisis at the southern border suddenly became real to the Democrats who have blocked his attempt to secure that border against the increased flow of migrant caravans. The Dems finally came to the table to pass legislation to fund more money for the project.
Oddly enough the blabber mouth Ocasio-Cortez, who voted against the bill for funding made her first trip to the border and as usual issued a series of baseless and inflammatory remarks about the “Concentration Camps”. AOC, who is known for her dire predictions about how climate change will end the world with in a dozen years, may well be a contributor to global warming with the constant expulsion of hot air that emanates every time she opens her mouth.
Currently there exists an unholy trio of freshman congresswomen including AOC, Omar and Tlaib with two of them under investigation. The first one is AOC herself who has campaign finance problems and Omar who has a very complicated marital situation. It will be interesting to see how far the investigation proceeds under the guidance of Speaker Pelosi.
