The most riveting TV last week was the Mueller testimony before two Congressional Committees. While this is being written the day after as the dust settles, it is important to get the two takes on the results from the Democratic side as well as the Republican side. For the GOP, particularly the President, there was overwhelming joy as Mueller failed to give the Donkey Kongs any ammunition to further their harassment of Trump. As for the Democrats, all of the liberal media and left wing pundits agree that it was a disaster for the Democrats. The longest faces after the hearing belonged to the two chairmen of the committees; Nadler and Schiff.
Watching on the TV screen it quickly became apparent that an aging and slow moving Mueller did not work up to the task of being a vibrant witness. In both of the hearings it seemed that he was completely unaware of what was in the report bearing his name. When asked to lookup a specific passage he had to rely on help from his lawyer and when asked to read that passage he deferred to the questioner. On one occasion he had to correct himself by first erroneously stating that the reason he didn’t indict Trump was because the DOJ mandates that a sitting President cannot be indicted. Later he had to admit that it was not because of the mandate, but because of the facts of the case.
The main time that Mueller had the greatest confrontation was when it was explained to him by a Republican inquisitor that the word “exonerate” was nowhere to be found in legal parlance. It was pointed out to him, as he should have known, that a prosecutor’s only job was to indict or not indict with no mention of non-exoneration.
As Mueller’s investigation was predicated on finding Russian interference in the 2016 election there was nothing mentioned in that mandate to investigate only one party in the two party election. Nowhere in the title was there a mention of Trump’s name or that of the Republican Party. If Mueller was to do a thorough job, he would have investigated both parties. In doing so he might have discovered the genesis of the Steele dossier that was paid for by several sources including the Clinton Campaign, the FBI and the DNC. That dossier which was filled with unverified dirt on Trump was the basis of four FISA warrants.
Once the Mueller team, comprised of all Democrats, launched into their investigation it was strictly a one sided affair. For almost two years Democrats in Washington, the liberal press, Academia and Hollywood were gleeful over the prospect that Mueller would discover collusion, or conspiracy, to use the proper legal term between Trump and the Russians. However, when Mueller could find no connection between Trump and Russia the Dems quickly went to the second part of the report which was focused on obstruction of justice by Trump. For whatever reason, Mueller decided to list possible items of obstruction, but concluded they were not sufficient to warrant an indictment***.
THE SQUAD. When I was in basic training in the Army I was fortunate enough to be named a Squad Leader so I am familiar with what the term squad designates. In the Army it is the smallest fighting unit comprised of a dozen or more soldiers who are the primary fighting force on the ground. With their M1 rifles of yore and their BAR “browning automatic rifle” they were able to lay down a fierce field of fire. Lately, the term “squad” has been co-opted by four disaffected female freshmen congress members. The leader of this group is Ocasio-Cortez, whose elevator doesn’t seem to go all the way to the top. Her outrageous comments are echoed by foul-mouthed Tlaib, under investigation Omar and loud mouth Pressley. The disruptive quartet of Socialists has been labeled by Trump as the new face of the Democrat party. As for the DNC, the chairman Perez has called AOC the new singular face of the Democrat party. This foursome’s favorite word “racist” is used against anyone who disagrees with them—even speaker Pelosi. One of AOC’s latest blunders was when she voted against the funding bill for more border security along with her three followers and then traveled to the border to bemoan the terrible conditions under which the migrants were being treated.
When it comes to the situation at the southern border, the Democrats have allowed it to fester for over a year so that it would prove to be a distraction for President Trump.
