The much hyped Democratic presidential debates happened again last week. For the most part, the two-nighter turned into a food fight between the ultra-progressive wing of the party and the few moderates who were on stage. On Wednesday night the radicals even attacked the vaunted Barack Obama much to the dismay of candidate Joe Biden. Biden invokes his close association with Obama every chance he gets, but is quick to distance himself from the former President on controversial matters. On the latter occasions he claims he was only the Vice President and didn’t have much import in controversial decisions made by the President.
Also on Wednesday, Biden was book ended by Senators Harris and Booker. Both of these senators are trying desperately to corner the black vote and figure their best way to do it is to criticize the old white guy, even though that guy is most associated with their black super star President Obama.
On Tuesday night, the two main contenders were Sanders and Warren. These two are vying to capture the majority of the looney left Socialists. All through the night the loudest voice on stage belonged to Sanders who tried desperately to silence his many critics. When I was in debate class in college, I learned that the debater who first raised his voice was the one who lost the debate. As for Warren, she says she has a plan for everything but has yet to reveal any details. We also know her overall strategy is to soak the rich, abolish corporations, forgive student debt and steal Sanders’ MEDICARE FOR ALL plan.
On Wednesday night Harris, who gained a bit of notoriety by attacking Biden in the first debate, was caught off guard when Hawaiian Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard called her out on her record as Attorney General of California. When it comes to California Harris is quite comfortable in never mentioning the horrible conditions that currently exist in several of that state’s major cities. She also seems at ease with the radical agenda that is being pursued by Governor Newsom of California. She is also quite virulent in her attacks on President Trump. In that matter she is only out done by the four members of the Squad.
The most popular word being bandied about in Washington is “Racist”. Of course the word is only used when black or brown people are criticized by a white person, such as President Trump. To clarify the meaning of the word I usually go to Webster and in this case he defines it as “animosity shown to peoples of a different race”. This is exactly what Democrat Elijah Cummings did in his virulent dressing down of a border patrol individual. When President Trump singled out Cummings for his vial remarks and the awful conditions of his district in Baltimore, Trump was immediately called a racist. However, Cummings was never criticized for his equally racist comments on how the border patrol operates***.
THE WIZARD OF OZ. One local political pundit at an early morning coffee break in Reno had an interesting take on the Democrat Presidential hopefuls. It went like this, “If Hollywood ever wants to remake The Wizard of Oz they have a readymade cast of characters standing on the Democrat Presidential candidate stage. For the Wizard Sanders would be perfect, for Dorothy, Williamson the writer is also perfect and for Dorothy’s cohorts we could have Joe Biden as the Tin Man, Beto as the Scarecrow and Booker as the Cowardly Lion. A new member would be added to the cast when we have the Wicked Witch of the East played by Elizabeth Warren joined by the Wicked Witch of the West with Kamala Harris in that role. Toto could be played by Mayor Pete Buttigieg and the rest of the cast would be flying monkeys lead by Senator Gillibrand”***.
RACIST REAGAN. In their continuing attempt to link the words Republican and racist together the Democrats got a big boost last week when a telephone conversation between then President Nixon and Governor Reagan was released. The 1971 conversation was laced with hot verbiage about some African nation being admitted to the United Nations.
Conversely, the most famous quote about the race card is seldom brought up since it was uttered by President Bill Clinton during Hillary’s losing run against Obama in the 2008 contest. Because Bill always refers to himself as the first black President, it is doubtful if we will hear any denigrating news about him.
