Former University of Nevada men’s basketball players Tre’Shawn Thurman and Trey Porter were invited to participate in the G League Player Invitational in Chicago Friday. The Wolf Pack duo are two of 50 players invited to event. Both played their senior years for the Pack this past season helping Nevada to a third consecutive Mountain West regular season title and a third trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Wolf Pack tied the school record with 29 wins.
The 6-8 Thurman played in all 34 games and started 29 in his final college season. The Omaha, Neb. native was second on the team grabbing 5.8 rebounds per game, fifth scoring 8.2 points per contest and second with 27 total blocks. In 15 games he netted double figures and four times recorded a double-double. In the Pack’s win over UMass in Las Vegas he scored a season-high 22 points.
Porter started all 34 games in the middle for the Wolf Pack in his senior campaign. The Woodbridge, Va. native scored 7.2 points and grabbed 4.7 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game. The 6-11 big man led the Pack with 28 blocks on the season. Nine times he scored in double figures with a season-best 20 points coming in the home win over New Mexico. At Loyola Chicago he posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
