In days of yore, one of the main functions of political conventions of both parties was to issue a Party Platform. Those platforms were arrived at after considerable negotiation and amendments. Unfortunately, this was not the case at this year’s Democrat convention.
Instead of a platform, an over 100-page proposal known as the Biden-Bernie Manifesto was issued. The proposals contained within this document go far beyond the infamous Green New Deal. This is no surprise, for in Biden’s attempt to get the Liberal extreme left vote he has had to surround himself with the likes of Bernie, AOC and Beto.
Much of the detail of this manifesto is examined in Donald Trump Jr.’s new book “Liberal Privilege”. In the case of Biden, he went over some of the details at a recent appearance and after delivering his message he acted somewhat surprised when he noted, “If I get all this passed, I’ll be the most progressive President in History.”
Getting up to date on Biden, he finally devised a plan to get out of his basement. He was forced to do this because the Political winds (the polls), had begun to shift in favor of Trump. When he did emerge, he started to walk back many of his previous statements and positions. Among them were; his stance on fracking which he first said he would ban and then denied that he was against it, his denial of his statement that he would defund the police, walking back his comment on shutting the country down and his plan to raise everyone’s taxes.
HAIR-GATE. Big story last week was about Nancy Pelosi’s trip to a beauty salon that was closed to the public while not wearing her mask. The video of this incident went viral and exposed the hypocrisy of the constantly agitated Pelosi who has insisted that all Americans be mandated to wear masks.
Naturally, the speaker responded to the outrage by saying that she had been “set up”. She even went as far as to demand an apology from the salon owner who has now been forced to close her shop and is moving out of San Francisco.
To sum up the entire Pelosi fiasco she has now joined hand and hand with the mayor of Chicago, Lightfoot, who recently broke the COVID mandate by going out for a haircut.
FROM LAPDOG TO ATTACK DOG. If you were asked to name the most liberal US Senator you would probably say Bernie Sanders. However, when the voting records of Senators comes to light there is one Senator who is to the left of Sanders. That would be vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Senator Harris is best remembered as a toady for Senator Booker during the Kavanaugh hearings. When Spartacus Booker exited the hearings, Harris followed him out like a good little supporter of his position.
Now that she is a VP candidate, she has become an attack canine for the Biden campaign. During her failed run for the Democrat nomination she had her most famous performance when she lambasted Biden during the debates.
Following that, her constantly shifting positions on all the major matters quickly doomed her campaign. Her most recent mistake was her statement about Biden’s call for a national mask mandate, “That’s what true leadership looks like.” Unfortunately for her and Joe such a national mandate was proven to be illegal.
WASHINGTON TWO STEP. On Friday of last week, Biden crawled out of his basement to give a press conference on the economy to a hand selected group of reporters. After lambasting Trump on the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Biden took off on his most virulent chastising of Trump regarding an article that appeared in the Atlantic magazine.
That article had stated that President Trump in 2018 had called American military victims of World War I, “suckers and losers.” That statement was credited to anonymous sources according to the article.
Coincidently, while Biden was speaking a tv commercial about the article was released. In rebutting Biden’s and the magazine’s claim people who were actually at the 2018 incident, including John Bolton, denied vehemently that the President had ever uttered such words. The President himself has gone on record as decrying the Atlantic story as just another hoax.
In closing, it is well to remember President Obama’s recent August 2020 statement about Biden, “Never underestimate Joe’s ability to (expletive) things up.”
