On April 1 from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the Summit Church will be hosting an Easter EggFest at Lazy 5 Regional Park. The EggFest is free and open to all ages.
“This is our very first one that we’re hosting. We wanted to reach out to the community in a different type of capacity. And as a mom, I’m always looking for egg hunts around this time of year and thinking about what we can do for the community,” says Summit Church Local Outreach Pastor Veronica Arredondo.
Twenty-six thousand eggs filled with goodies will be hidden throughout the park, and kids in different age groups will hunt for them in 15-minute increments (age groups are broken down into: 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 year olds, et cetera, and increments for special needs, junior high, and even high schoolers are welcome as well). The Church is collecting candy donations now and Summit Church’s 60-plus ministry will soon start to assemble them.
While people wait for their egg hunt, they can also enjoy carnival games, a petting zoo, and stop by sponsor booths. Free hot cocoa, coffee, and snacks such as donut holes and fruit will also be offered to help kids stay hydrated and energized for their search. The Easter bunny and a professional photographer will also be available for pictures.
Summit Church chose Lazy 5 to host its egg hunt because it’s three minutes away from the Summit campus on 7075 Pyramid Way and it’s also big enough to hold a large-scale egg hunt.
“As a Christian church, we want to be the hands and feet of Jesus and we want to be there for the community,” Arredondo adds.
