The evening of February 20, 2023, Elaine Bailie finished her days work, the wind kissed her cheek and she awakened to a new life in the loving embrace of Jesus Christ, welcoming her into the Kingdom of Heaven, her life giving her gifts of love and support to all those she knew having been fulfilled.
Elaine Leslie Van Lydegraf was born in Salem Oregon January 6, 1949, to Sidney Wallen Van Lydegraf and Edith Harriet (Jones) Van Lydegraf. As I have no doubt the Jones family characteristics carry forward, Elaine is currently engaged in multiple conversations sharing family stories with her loving grandmother Clara Jones and grandma’s five children, the Jones clan, hugging her mother Nikki, Aunt Mary Bone, Uncles Richard “Dick” Jones, Douglas “Doug” Jones, and Aunt Katherine “Kay” Henderson, all surrounded by the ever-present cats and dogs, with whom Elaine shared a special bond. No doubt her sister Sandie’s late husband Robert “Bob” Archuleta is taking photos of the gathering. Grandparents Jake and Nora Van Lydegraf smiling and holding hands.
Elaine grew up in Salem until she and Nikki moved to Sparks, where she graduated Sparks High School. Elaine started a career with JC Penney, first as a clerk in the Stead Distribution Center, advanced into management, and ultimately became a quality control inspector for JC Penney products being manufactured in Mexico and South America to insure they met Penney’s rigid quality control standards. Her job performance was excellent.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Tamie Bailie-Schultz, her son in law Bill Schultz, Rob Dixon, her “adopted” son, as well as her two siblings, sister Sandra Archuleta and brother Lance Van Lydegraf, his wife Tammy, and numerous cousins and their families. The family extends its thanks to each of the friends and family who have shared their love and support and kindness during this time. There may be a memorial service this spring when the weather improves.
